In 1909 the artist Pamela Colman Smith, under the direction of Arthur Edward Waite, created an innovative deck of 78 Tarot cards that were later recognized as revolutionary. Thanks to the descriptive scenes that illustrate each of the Minor Arcana, the Rider-Waite deck distinguished itself from the centuries-old tradition of Tarots and became a reference point for every deck published from then on.
